Community Life in Sewanee

You have to see it to believe it. Read more.

The School of Theology in Sewanee, Tennessee—truly one of the most beautiful places in the United States. The 13,000-acre campus of the University of the South is perched high on the Cumberland Plateau. The "Mountain," as it is called by the locals, is a sanctuary for formation, worship, academic, and community life.

The School of Theology is home to an accredited seminary of The Episcopal Church and one of the oldest-established centers for Christian education in the country—the Beecken Center. Here the rythym of life revolves around the sounds of birds and ringing of church bells.

Seminarians from across The Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion enjoy a welcoming and inclusive community built on a faithful prayer life in a rigorous academic atmosphere.
