Pamela K. Payne
GreenFaith Fellow, Candidate for Holy Orders (Diocese of Alabama)
Pamela Payne will receive the Diploma in Anglican Studies from The School of Theology at Sewanee in May 2016, and is a candidate for the transitional diaconate from the Diocese of Alabama. Originally ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Pam has served as a pastor, church musician, religious communicator, and teacher in the midwest and south. She received a Ph.D. in Theology from Vanderbilt University, where she studied with the noted ecotheologian Sallie McFague. During 2012-13, Pam participated in an 18-month fellowship program with GreenFaith, an interfaith environmental education and advocacy organization. After completing that program, Pam continues as a fellow with GreenFaith, working specifically in its Divest and Reinvest Now! campaign. She is also a fellow with Sewanee’s Center for Religion and the Environment, and now Chairs her diocesan Task Force for the Stewardship of Creation.
