Wendell Berry, acclaimed writer and environmentalist, visited Sewanee to speak about sense of place, as part of the Finding Your Place (FYP) symposium "Imaginative Education: Learning to Know a Place, Care for a Place." Berry and his daughter, Mary Berry, spoke about their work with the Berry Center, a foundation focused on advocating for farmers to promote sustainable agriculture. Berry suggested that students develop a sense of place internally and focus on their own self-worth in order to improve their external place.
