ER_logoFind out who the Environmental Residents are and what they are up to this year!

The Environmental Residents at Sewanee are leaders in sustainability whose interests lie in developing more sustainable practices on campus. Specifically, the Environmental Residents are involved in maintaining recycling efforts and educational programming in their dormitories as well as promoting sustainability at various events on campus. The current goals for the ER program are to establish a system for providing recycling services at events held at Sewanee and to streamline recycling within residence halls to provide students with a meaningful experience in sustainable practices as an individual.

This year, the ERs have recycled at several events on campus including HOLA’s Fall Flavor Festival in the Quad and the recent football game against Rhodes, among many others. One of the biggest challenges for the ERs at the moment is locating events at which recycling would be needed, so let us know if you are planning an event, we would love to help out! One of the many projects that we are looking forward to this year is the development of a partnership with Greek organizations to help with recycling efforts at large Greek social events such as shake day and party weekends. If you are interested in getting involved with any of the environmental resident projects, please contact any of our current cabinet members: April Shi (’14), Ariana Rupp (’14), Shelby Koebley (’14), and Geanina Fripp (’16).
