According to recent Pew Center Research, the U.S. lags behind many other developed countries in voter turnout. Only 55 - 60% of the U.S. voting-eligible population actually cast ballots on election day. With the U.S. presidential contest around the corner, the Office of Civic Engagement is working to spread access to critical voter registration information.
A partnership between Civic Engagement, the Student Government Association, and TurboVote, a nonpartisan organization committed to increasing voter turnout and participation, will ease access to voter registration for Sewanee residents.
Sewanee's new TurboVote portal makes registration and absentee ballot application a breeze--it's even possible to sign-up for text and email election reminders. Check-out the posters around campus to see your state’s voter registration deadline.
