8-28-2007 Athletics News: Sewanee Adds Three to Athletics Staff

As the Sewanee enters the fall season, its athletic department has added three new staff members to the team. Burgundy Biletski (ass't field hockey), Sarah Hulsey (athletic trainer), and Stephanie Badylak (ass't. swim coach) are the latest additions to the athletic staff and Sewanee looks to the group to be assets to its programs this year.

Burgundy Biletski joins the Sewanee Field Hockey team as an assistant coach for the 2007 season. Biletski was a member of Canada's Senior National Indoor Field Hockey team that won the gold medal at the 2006 Pan Am Indoor Championships and went on to compete in the World Indoor Championships in Austria in February of 2007. Coach Biletski is a graduate of the University of Calgary in Canada where she played from 2000 - 2006.  She was named to the Canada West First Team All Canadian in 2005 as the top goalie in Canadian University Field Hockey.

Biletski has coached at the High School, Club, Provincial and University levels over the past six years. Her most recent accomplishment was to backstop the Alberta Senior Women's team to a gold medal at the senior national tournament this summer. Biletski finished the tournament with three shutouts and only 3 goals against in five games. This is the first time the senior team has won the outdoor national championship in over 30 years. “Burgundy's coaching experience, combined with her university, national and international playing experience is sure to make her a very valuable part of the 2007 coaching staff at Sewanee,” adds head coach Barb Taylor.

Sarah Hulsey joins the athletic training staff this year and comes to the Mountain from Virginia Tech, where she has recently earned a masters degree in health and physical education. During her 2 years at VT, she was the head trainer at Blacksburg High School.

Originally from Heber Springs, Arkansas, Hulsey received a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Arkansas State University in 2004. At ASU, She worked primarily with football and women's soccer. Hulsey then completed an internship at Coastal Carolina University, where she worked with softball and with football during there Big South Conference Championship season. She is joined on the Mountain by her cat, Rufus.

Stephanie Badylak will enter her first season as Sewanee's assistant swim coach, assisting veteran coach Max Obermiller with the Tiger swim and dive program. She comes to the Mountain from Hillsdale, Michigan, where she was most recently assistant women's swim coach and teacher in the Physical Education department at Hillsdale College.

Prior to Hillsdale, Badylak coached at SUNY Geneseo from 2003-05. Coach Badylak also has experience at the high school level and has been a swim camp counselor.  The Hartwick College grad (B.A. Biology) was a four-year swimmer who holds several records and was the 2001 conference champion in the 400 freestyle relay.
