The Fowler Center
The Robert Dobbs Fowler Sport and Fitness Center is the centerpiece of the institution’s athletic facilities, providing students with a modern fitness complex. Included in the new facility are a nine-lane indoor pool with separate diving well, an indoor four-lane 160-meter track with space for field events, and three multi-purpose courts and a batting cage. The Fowler Center project included extensive renovations to the existing Juhan Gymnasium, including a 1,000-seat basketball and volleyball performance gym, three racquetball courts and one squash court, training, weight, and locker rooms, dance studio, a fitness gym, classroom space, and three indoor tennis courts.
The late Robert Dobbs Fowler, C’52, who was a member of the Board of Regents at his untimely death, made the sport and fitness center possible through his generous bequest of the largest single gift in the University’s history.
