Meet Registration
:  Teams interested in competing at the 2008 Mountain Laurel Invitational must email Coach Jeff Heitzenrater at jheitzen@sewanee.edu.  You will  not have access to the Direct Athletics registration site for this meet without contacting Coach Heitzenrater.

Information for Coaches


TEAMS COMPETING IN 2008 MOUNTAIN LAUREL INVITATIONAL:  to be posted after entries received

TRACK:     The track is a eight lane, 400 meter, Conica SP ½” urethane surface with red structural spray and 42" lanes.  Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump and Pole Vault approach runways are also Conica urethane surfaced.  The Shot Put and Discus circles are cement.

WEIGHTS AND MEASURES:     All implements need to be inspected between 8 and 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the outdoor track.  Implements not passing inspection will be held until the throwing competitions are complete.

SPIKES:     Athletes may use 1/8 or 1/4 inch pyramid spikes only.  Pin spikes will not be allowed.  If an athlete is found using pin spikes or spikes longer than 1/4 inch, he/she will be disqualified from the meet.

ELIGIBILITY:     The Mountain Laurel Relays is open to undergraduate college students only.  No open athletes or graduate students may participate.

ENTRIES:   
• Entries are unlimited for 2008.
• Entries must be submitted at Direct Athletics website:  CLICK HERE TO ENTER
• ENTRIES WILL CLOSE ON TUESDAY, APRIL 1, AT MIDNIGHT.
• Late entries and phone entries will not be accepted.
• Scratches are due by 7 p.m., Thursday, April 3rd.
• Please refer to the order of events below before making entries.

ENTRY FEE:     The entry fee will be $25 per athlete with a maximum of $150 per team ($300 total for men's and women's teams).  Make checks payable to The University of the South.  Entry fees are not refundable and are due before athletes can participate.

DECLARATIONS:     Final declarations/scratches must be made by Thursday, April 3rd, at 7 p.m..     Additional entries will not be taken at this time, only your final declarations/scratches.  Please email scratches to jheitzen@sewanee.edu

HEAT SHEETS:     Heats and lanes will be drawn after the entries are received.  Copies of the entry list will be posted on our web site after entries are received.

TIMING:     Hytek fully automatic timing done by DELTA TIMING.

RULES:     The meet will be conducted under NCAA rules.

SCORING:     Points will be given in each event for 1st through 8th place using the following scale: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.
   
STARTING    High Jump - Women - 1.32m (4’ 4”), Men - 1.68m (5’ 6”)
HEIGHTS:    Pole Vault - Women - 2.14m (7’), Men - 3.05m (10’)

LOCKER ROOMS:      Locker rooms and showers are available in the Fowler Center. Please bring your own towels.  The University of the South is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.

TRAINERS:     Trainers and training facilities will be available in the Fowler Center and on the outdoor track.  Please bring your own supplies.

FOOD:     The dining hall is available for team or individual meals.  Please call Aramark Food Service in advance to make arrangements for team meals, 931/598-1120.

MEET PACKETS:     Meet packets may be picked up Saturday morning at the press box.
