Athletic Training Room

ATHLETIC TRAINING

Welcome to the University of the South Athletic Training Room.  The athletic training room is located on the bottom floor of the Fowler Sport and Fitness Center.  The spacious 2,000 square foot athletic training room includes 6 treatment tables, 6 taping stations, a rehabilitation area, 3 whirlpools, a physician's office, and offices for the Assistant Athletic Trainer and the Head Athletic Trainer.  The coed athletic training room handles all the medical needs for nearly 400 student athletes participating in 22 varsity sports.

As a student athlete, if you are sick or injured, we ask that you report to the athletic training room and our staff will thoroughly evaluate your condition.  Our staff will work directly with you to identify the cause of your injury and formulate a plan to ensure that when you return to competition, it will not only be safe for you to return, but  you will be able to perform at a level that you were prior to your injury.

The University of the South Athletic Training staff works under the direction of our team physician, Michael Jordan, MD.  Dr. Jordan is a partner at Middle Tennessee Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.  Dr. Jordan is a 1984 graduate of the University of the South where he played football under Head Coach Horace Moore.  Dr. Jordan was one of fourteen recipients of a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship his senior year.  In addition to working with Dr. Jordan, the University of the South athletic training staff works with the University Health Center, under the direction of Louis Koella, MD and Anne Sitz, DNSc, CFNP.
