This summer I interned for a Ghanaian nongovernmental organization called Challenging Heights. As an anti-child trafficking NGO, Challenging Heights rescues, rehabilitates and reintegrates children who have been trafficked and forced into slavery in the fishing industry. I was a teacher's assistant at the organization's primary school as well as planned and implemented a Child Rights Camp dedicated to educating students about their rights and how they can help end child trafficking in their community. This internship put my studies in development and NGOs into an active, local context and furthered my passion to work in child advocacy.
