Join the philosophy department for the first "philosophy table" of the year at McClurg this coming Thursday (10/15) from 12.30 - 1.30. The aim of philosophy table, as we are imagining it right now, is to give us a chance to get together as a Sewanee philosophy community in a fun, informal, and semi-regular way. We'll have a couple of "conversation-starter" questions to get you going, but you're welcome to come along and chat about whatever you'd like, whether it's something from a recent class you've been thinking about, something you saw in the news, or just something that's been bugging you for a while. The conversation doesn't even have to be philosophical in nature - we're also imagining this as a place to swap stories about what it's like to study philosophy at Sewanee, exchange reading or writing tips, or find out which of your professors love hip-hop and which of them prefer mid-nineties Britpop (it may not be the ones you're thinking). We'll gather on the balcony of McClurg around 12.30, and plan to be there at least until 1.30, but you're welcome to come for as long or as short a time as you're able.
