Lauren Lyons, C'16, and Professor Whitmer to Present Research Findings at International Conference

Lauren and Dr. Whitmer will travel to Vancouver, British Columbia in late June 2015 to present their research findings at the next meeting of The Society for the History of Childhood and Youth (SHCY), a conference that will draw scholars from all over the world. These findings are the result of research both undertook as part of an “archives apprenticeship project” in Germany last summer. They will participate in a panel with several professional historians called Letters, Relations and Emotions: Exploring Sources and Methods for the Study of Premodern Children and Youth. The title of their paper is “Observation, Emotion and Educational Travel in 18th century Europe.”  Both are grateful to the History Department, Sewanee’s Center for Undergraduate Research and the University Grants and Faculty Development Committee for their support.
