Language Immersion for Students

The CONSORTIUM FOR GERMAN IN THE SOUTHEAST offers language courses for college and high school students at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee from June 1 to June 11, 2015. Students greatly benefit from the intensive practice combined with the opportunity to interact with advanced speakers. Students with a minimum of two college semesters or two high school years of German are invited to apply. Credit is handled by the students’ home institution. The University of the South provides room and board for $1250. Participants are invited to enroll in the summer study program in Berlin following the seminar.

Location of the language school

Located on the Cumberland Plateau between Chattanooga and Nashville, the University of the South, offers an ideal location for the seminar. Popularly known as Sewanee, the university sits on a wooded 13,000-acre campus at an altitude of 2,000 feet, surrounded by hiking trails and natural beauty. Participants stay in a dormitory on campus and are permitted to use university facilities, including the library and the recreation/fitness center.
