Espree-Conway Discusses his Watson Fellowship Experiences

DeAndré Espree-Conaway slide presentation

DeAndré Espree-Conaway (C'13) delivered a post-Watson slide presentation on his travels of last year; his talk, entitled "Taking Down Tongues," took place in Gailor Auditorium on Friday afternoon, August 29. The basic question that DeAndré tried to raise during his non-stop travels throughout South Asia and the South Pacific Islands--he was especially interested in the dialects spoken in la Nouvelle-Calédonie and on the islands of la Poynésie française--was whether language documentation helps in the struggle to hold onto dying tongues. The Department was proud to have our old French major (C'13) back in Gailor, lecturing to a large and interested audience!
