This spring’s Medieval offerings include a few notable changes. First, “Medieval Literature” replaces “Non-Chaucerian Medieval Literature.” As you might infer, the new medieval survey will include some Chaucer—in particular, Professor Irvin will teach selections from the Canterbury Tales. This spring’s Chaucer class will be a small, writing-intensive seminar.
For those students wishing to deepen their engagement with one of the seminal works of American literature, we are offering a new class called “Melville’s Moby Dick,” which will be team-taught by Professor John Gatta and University Chaplain Tom Macfie. This class, too, will be writing-intensive.
