Course Selection Process
It's time to start thinking about courses ...
It's time to start thinking about the courses you might take in your first semester at Sewanee, and we've gathered everything you'll need here. Please begin by watching our video about “Finding Your Academic Passion” at Sewanee, and listen to some students talk about how they approached their coursework. Then dig into the First-Year Course Listings, and read about all the courses available to you. The courses are sorted under the same general academic subject areas we're using on our Course Selection Form; you can read more about departments/programs by clicking the orange link-icon to the right of their names, and you can also find specific course descriptions by clicking the same icon beside course titles. Scribble down the courses that get your attention and make a note of questions you have.
We've tried to address many of these in our FAQ, so read it carefully.
If you have a question that we don’t answer in our materials, go ahead and ask the Guides—that’s why they’re here! For your reference,Your Academic Guides are:Your academic guides are:

While these faculty members have their own areas of specialty, they are also experienced advisors who are broadly familiar with our whole curriculum. They will be available by email, and you may also contact them 10:00-4:00 (CDT) by phone at 931.598.3646, if you have questions about our courses, requirements, programs or special areas of study. (Leave a voice-mail at that number if they are unable to answer and we will respond within 24 hours.)
Remember, your schedule will be assembled based on the preferences and interests you express on our Course Selection Form between May 26 and June 30. Don't put this off: make some time right away to tell us what we need to know about you to provide you with a balanced, engaging schedule!
