Italy Study Abroad 2016

The Coliseum at Rome

"To Rule Mankind and Make the World Obey. So the poet writes of the Roman Empire, subject of Sewanee's program in the summer of 2016.  The many cultural riches of Italy-archaeological, architectural, artistic, etc. will be studied on site.  Academic study of these sites will be rigorous, and balanced by healthy doses of la dolce vita, for Italy is also home to Europe's finest cuisine and coffee. And did we mention gelato? We begin in Naples, a city vibrant with life, and then move  to Pompeii, the great doomed city destroyed by a volcano and thus preserved for later ages.  From there, we make or way to Rome, the Eternal City, and home to the Colosseum, St. Peter's, the Trevi Fountain, and countless other must-see attractions.  Admission to the trip is by application only.  You may view the application here.  For more information, contact Dr. Chris McDonough or Dr. Jacqueline Dibiasie Sammons‌.
