Nicholas Babson, C ’68, the founding defector of Sewanee’s Babson Center for Global Commerce, has returned as acting director of the Center, following Eric Greenwood’s resignation because of a family illness.
Babson will oversee day-to-day operations at the center and direct fundraising efforts.
Karen Proctor, last semester’s Brown Fellow, is teaching the business honors senior seminar for this semester.
Terry Papillon, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, will oversee a search for a new director. He said an already launched strategic review of the University’s business education program and career and leadership services would help guide the transition and search.
Babson, usually known as Nick, and his wife, Mary helped found the center in 2006, and he served as director until Spring 2011. Longtime supporters and benefactors of the University, Mary and Nick have been deeply involved as leaders in Sewanee’s $250 million capital campaign.
