Karen Proctor

Brown Foundation Fellow
B.A. University of Notre Dame

Karen Proctor is founder and principal of Harbour Workshop LLC, a social innovation firm. Proctor established the firm with one desire in mind—to help senior leaders and organizations design creative solutions for lasting social change. Scholastic, the University of Notre Dame, the Guggenheim Museum, and Babson College are among current or recent clients. Proctor has many ties to Sewanee. Several years ago, in her then-role as Scholastic’s vice president of community affairs and government relations, Proctor was instrumental in the envisioning and creation of Discover Together, a collaborative effort among Scholastic, the Yale Child Study Center, Sewanee, and the Tracy City community. She has recently facilitated workshops and retreats for Sewanee’s Collaborative for Southern Appalachian Studies, and in 2016 was the facilitator for a Conversation on Place, which brought together colleagues from Sewanee, Yale, and the FrameWorks Institute to chart next steps for the emerging, distinctive academic program in Southern Appalachian Studies.
